Luftgekühlt 7 Air-Cooled Porsche Gathering in Durham, NC

Luftgekühlt 7 organizers announced that their May 31, 2020 East Coast gathering will be held in Durham, North Carolina.

Durham is the home to the famous Ingram Collection of Porsches. Attendees can expect to see a lot of the Ingram Porsches on display. The press release teases driving tours coming in from the west and from above and below North Carolina. Details are yet to come…

Official activities are scheduled to kick off on Friday, May 29, 2020. There is a planned pre-party on Saturday night that will culminate with Sunday’s show. They promise a mellow Sunday night to unwind, Luft style. Event and Registration details.

Air Brigade was at Luftgekühlt 6 that was held in 2019 at the Universal Studios backlot. At that event there was only a Peterson Museum Saturday night gathering and the Sunday show. It sounds like they are moving to make this a three-day weekend of air-cooled Porsche celebration.

Two hotels are being identified as the host hotels for Luft 7. They are:

Luftgekühlt 6 that was held in Hollywood on the backlot of Universal Studios provided a wonderfully unique backdrop for over 300 air-cooled Porsches. The participants included everything from early 356s, to every model of air-cooled 911s and probably the largest selection of Porsche 914s that I have ever seen gathered in one spot. The 914 was definitely not the redheaded step child at this show. It probably helps that one of the organizers, Jeff Zwart owns a 914-6 that was shown in a prime spot at Luft 6.

In addition to stock air-cooled Porsches, the show featured 911 race cars and prototypes including a Porsche 917 in the marque position on site. The number of reimagined Porsche 911 Singers, 911 outlaws and Emory Outlaws was overwhelming. This event is quickly becoming the place to launch your air-cooled Porsche from a commercial standpoint. Over 3,000 people attended Luftgekühlt 6 with similar crowds expected in Durham for Luftgekühlt 7.
