Air Brigade members have been attending parties to launch the new Porsche 992 in Asheville, Atlanta, Charlotte and Orlando. Porsche Asheville hosted Asheville-based Air Brigade members with a party and presentation of a new white 911 Carrera with lipstick red interior.

Air Brigade members supported the launch with a display of their air-cooled Porsches including Charlie Hickey’s 1972 Porsche 911T Targa, TD King’s 1989 Porsche Carrera Anniversary Edition and Rick Steele’s 1990 Porsche 964 C4 Coupe. There was a bright blue Porsche 993 on display to represent the 993 line of 911’s and represents a recruiting challenge to get this owner in the Air Brigade.

In a bit of irony, Air Brigade founder and Commander, Jim Moore had his water-pumper 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo on display representing the 997 range of 911’s. A Porsche fan and owner enjoys air and water-cooled Porsches.

The new Porsche 911 (992) continues to grow in size as you can see in this photo comparing the front ends of the 997 on the left versus the new 992 on the right. The front end of the new 911 continues the Porsche tradition of the family look of Porsches.

The two highlights of the car are the spectacular rear end with a wrap-around light bar and the electronic IP display that really takes the 911 into the digital world. The cabin outfitting and seating position were outstanding and garnered a “Let’s buy one.” from my Linda as she experienced the passenger seat while stretching her legs in the roomy passenger footwell.

Air Brigade is going to have to wait drive the new Porsche 911 but early national media reviews are all positive. Air Brigade members in attendance at the launch event were impressed with the fit and finish and overall look of the new model. It continues the heritage of the beloved 911 but evolves the 911 into the leading edge of automotive technology and driving experience.
