RM Sotheby's Auburn Labor Day Weekend Auction

The RM Sotheby’s Auburn Labor Day Weekend Auction is one of the biggest of the year in the Midwest. The usual feature is American muscle and classics but there are always a few Porsches.

This year there are seven air-cooled Porsche classics including a Porsche 356, 912, 914 and a couple special 911 models including Porsche 930’s and a Porsche Speedster.

1964 Porsche 356SC Outlaw

The Porsche 356 is a 1964 SC Outlaw in Speed Yellow. It is quite a striking car and is sure to turn heads on the road, though the 356 purists will not be big fans. The estimated sale price is $50,000 - $60,000.

The 1967 Porsche 912 is a Soft Window Targa. This is the unique Porsche 912 as Porsche only produced Soft Window Targas for one model year. The red paint presents well over a black vinyl interior. The estimated price is $35,000 -$50,000.

1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet

Two Porsche 930 Turbos are being offered, One is a 1989 very original white Coupe and the other a 1988 Venetian blue over white leather Turbo Cabriolet. The originality of the 1989 930 commands a higher reserve of $150,000 - $175,000 while the 1988 Cab is estimated at $90,000 - $120,000.

As mentioned from the Monterey Report, 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Speedsters seem to be at every collector car auction. The RM Sotheby’s Auction isn’t let us down as there is a 1989 silver model on offer with an estimate of $110,000 - $130,000.

1975 Porsche 914 2.0

The final air-cooled Porsche crossing the auction block is a 1974 914 2.0 in Olympia Blue. I have a soft spot for Porsche 914-4’s so I was interested why this model was being estimated at $22,000 - $28,000. It is a clean 914 in a unique color with the 2.0-liter engine though the MFI is missing and Webers have been installed.

The Labor Day weekend won’t be a big weekend for Porsche prices but there are several models that will be interesting to watch in a non-Porsche venue.
