Air-Cooled Porsches for Sale Online with Gooding & Company
Gooding & Company is offering seven Air-Cooled Porsches for sale at their Geared Online August 3-7, 2020 online auction that is now underway. Pre-Covid these air-cooled Porsches would have crossed the auction block in Monterey but for 2020 Gooding is offering their collector-grade air-cooled Porsches online.
All eyes will be on the 1971 Porsche 911ST Rally with a million dollar pre-sale estimate. It is a stunning looking air-cooled Porsche ST that was a sport-purpose built 911T. A very limited number were produced with only five rally versions produced as shown here. It is believed only four still exist today so Porsche collectors will be bidding actively for this piece of Porsche history.
As is usual for Gooding & Company, their air-cooled Porsches for sale are all very high quality models with high pre-sale estimates.
Another unique offering in this auction is a 1979 Porsche 930 purchased new by LeMans Porsche racing driver Al Holbert. It is featured in its original special order Chiffon Yellow over brown. The $200,000 plus pre-sale estimate reflects its outstanding provenance, rare color and superb mechanical condition.
A pre-sale estimate of $150,000 - $200,000 caught my attention of being out of the ordinary with a question as to why so high. The reason for the estimated high sales price is that this is one of two 911 Carrera 3.2 produced specially in the Porsche design studio. The paint is an experimental multi-stage finish in Brilliant Black Metallic that is a special color with a subtle orange highlight. The interior has a matching Naturorange (Natural Orange) leather interior. This unique Carrera 3.2 remains in original, unrestored condition.
The 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa being offered provides an opportunity for Air Brigade members to purchase an extremely high quality unique color air-cooled Porsche 911.
