Why I Had to Buy a 2nd Air-Cooled Porsche

Will Brooks and his new to him 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 joins us again through his YouTube Channel Bavarian Enthusiast TV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZlLro_avJk

In this episode Will describes why he had to buy a second Air-Cooled Porsche 911 to join his stable of German Cars, in particular his Porsche garage-mate, a

1995 silver 993 911.

When Will first started Porsche shopping, his goal was a 911SC or a Carrera 3.2 but he came across a 993 and absolutely loved the car so he bought it. What’s not to love about a 993? You get the sound and experience of a Classic Porsche air-cooled flat six engine with the modern conveniences of ABS, power steering and brakes and safety features like air bags.

Will has thoroughly enjoyed his 993 but in the Fall he attended Targa Carolina, a mountain drive for air-cooled Porsches and he realized that the “modern air-cooled” 993 just wasn’t the experience of an older air-cooled Porsche like an SC or Carrera 3.2.

The search ensued again, for that older Porsche 911 before Porsche refined the car with the 964 and 993 variants. Will wanted to experience the original Porsche driving experience. A search of the classifieds began in earnest.

The goal was a clean Porsche 911SC or a Carrera 3.2 in a unique color. It turns out this is everyone’s goal as the unique color 911’s are snapped up quickly. One Viper Green 911SC he looked at sold within an hour of coming on the market.

Will’s nightly surfing of the Porsche classified turned up a Guards Red 1986 Carrera 3.2 that was clean with a great stance through a lowered suspension and 17” wheels. A view of Guards Red in person changed Will’s mind on his unique color goal and then a drive sealed the deal. A 1986 Porsche Carrera 3.2 was joining the Bavarian Enthusiast TV Collection.
