Member Monday: Porsche 964 Carrera C2 - The Ice Man

Member Monday: The “Ice Man Cometh” ... Thomas has named his 1990 Porsche 964 C2 the Ice Man but I suspect it has more to do with its Grand Prix White finish and the mountainous location of this photo than Eugene O’Neill’s famous play about a Greenwich Village saloon.

Thomas acquired this 964 C2 in 2017 in Colorado where Classic Porsche of Colorado Springs had upgraded it. Thomas wanted an upgraded Porsche 964 but wanted to keep it as true to the original Porsche as possible. As Thomas describes: “It has tasteful upgrades.”

The Porsche flat-6 was where Thomas started with an upgraded 3.8-liter Porsche flat-six by Roth Sport. Roth Sport also upgraded the shift linkage, transmission and suspension to K&W with RS anti-sway bars and new links.

The additional power of the Porsche flat-six 3.8 liter required additional stopping power so the brakes were upgrade to 993 turbo brakes with new wheels from Rotiform.

One problem with the older air-cooled Porsches is that you can out-drive your headlights at night so 9Eleven headlights were added for greater night-vision driving. The smoked dark look of the headlights is a nice offset to the icy-cold white of the Grand Prix White finish.

The performance upgrades demanded interior upgrades too. A new Porsche Classic radio was added with a Momo steering wheel, Billet shifter and Guard’s Red seat belts.

Thomas ordered an Air Brigade hat and decals when he registered for the site so I know the car is now also sporting Air Brigade on the quarter windows with an Air Brigade on Thomas’ head as he wheels this beauty around the next mountain turn.
