This Porsche 911 Carrera Ticks all the Boxes for a $100,000 Price

Updated: Mar 11, 2021

This low mile 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera ticks all the boxes to deliver a $100,000 price for this G-Series 911. It is currently featured on the PCarMarket web site auction and is bid to $88,000 with one day left in the auction.

During the last hour of an online auction prices traditionally climb dramatically; sometimes doubling in that hour. A 13% or more increase in the price to reach $100,000 and probably exceed that magic number will probably be achieved. A median price for a 1987 Porsche Carrera 3.2 is usually in the $60 - $80,000 range so this one will probably bring a 25% or more price premium.

So what are the attributes of this car that drives such a premium price:

  • Low Miles: 36,000 original miles

  • Special order Granite Green Metallic over a Grey-Green Interior

  • Turbo body M491 Wide Body option

  • G-Series 911 Carrera with the G50 transmission

  • Well Optioned with Sport Seats and Limited Slip Differential

The PCarMarket commentators are not as brutal in their analysis as Bring-a-Trailer commentators but the high price draw some spirited discussion on the originality of the paint. The owner admits that it is not all-original paint, but most of the car is original paint. The repainted areas appear to be a good match.

A M491 911 Expert weighed in stating that this is one of 62 M491 coupes imported in 1987. This makes it a very rare Porsche and a very rare Wide Body 911.

The auction ends on Tuesday, March 9 and Air Brigade will be there to see the final what should be winning bid.

Evaluation: A terrific example of a G-Series 911 Carrera 3.2 with the special M491 wide body Turbo look. The seller describes it as one of the best optioned M491 Coupes from 1987. The stunning color combination of Granite Green Metallic paint over the Grey-Green leather interior makes this a special Porsche that is sure to command $100,000 plus price to put it in your garage.
