Porsche 911 Targa Prices are on the Rise

The biggest price climb for a Targa was the 1974-1977 911S 2.7 Targa with a 37% gain. Each of the G-Series variants had a Targa perform strongly in 2020 unlike their Coupe or Cab variants. Most models of the G-Series showed strong pricing with positive gains or no change (n/c) with very few drops in median pricing only occurring with cabriolets (cabs).

The one Coupe to see a big increase was the 1984-1986 Carrera 3.2 that registered a 37% gain. The surprising result was that the 1984 -1986 915 transmission Carreras (Targa and Coupe) registered higher median prices than the G50 transmission variants. The “buying consensus was always to buy the G50 model instead of the 915 model.

Your valuation for the 84-89 carreras must include the 491 wide bodies. That could explain why the 915 cars jumped so much and the coupes actually exceed the g50 coupes. Looking at BAT alone, I believe there have been quite more sales of the 915 turbo looks vs g50 TLs. My swag tells me a 491 911 price point is the midpoint of the narrow body cars and the turbo.
