Porsche 356 Sales at Monterey 2021
Porsche 356 Sales at Monterey 2021 continued with strong prices including a million dollar ’64 356C Carrera 2 Cabriolet and a ’59 Convertible D that sold for twice its median price.

The Gooding & Company pre-sale estimate for this million dollar 1964 Porsche 356C Carrera 2 Cabriolet was $650,000 - $850,000 but the bids blew past this estimate with a final sale price of $1,039,000.
This 356 four-cam is just one of 30 C Carrera 2 Cabriolets built. The color change from its original champagne yellow to its current silver exterior did not hold the price back on the sale. The four-cam engine and cabriolet body style overcame color change.
It was surprising to see a half-million dollar Convertible D achieving this result at the Mecum Auction. The median price for a Convertible D is $269,000 so the final price of $517,000 far exceeded the norm. Several key factors drove this price:
It is the final Convertible D produced by Porsche
It is one of 1,331 produced
Great color combo of Silver over a red interior
